Warwickshire 2nd XI v Surrey 2nd XI Friendly

 

Warwickshire bowled Surrey out for 144 at Walmley C.C. and in reply, made 257 before being dismissed just before the close of the opening day

Day 1

Surrey won the toss at Walmley C.C. and chose to bat in Warwickshire Second Eleven's latest 3 day friendly match.

Coasting along at 60-1, Surrey slipped to 100-5 by lunch, before finally being dismissed for 144 during the afternoon. Boyd Rankin 3-26 and Shoab Ali 3- 28 were the Bears' most successful bowlers.

In reply Webb went lbw, one of seven in the innings, to the first ball and with the Bears in trouble on 23-3 Ateeq Javid and Tom Burton then added seventy for the fourth wicket.

Wickets continued to tumble with Linley 7-42 the main wicket taker, before Andy Miller 21 and Boyd Rankin 68* posted ninety one for the last wicket, to take Warwickshire to 257 all out. Rankin hit four fours and six sixes in his innings.

With a lead of 113 there was time for just one maiden over before the close in Surrey's second innings from Tom Milnes.
