CB40 Mustard too hot for Bears
Warwickshire were beaten by 5 wickets at the Emirates against Durham with skipper Phil Mustard making a career best 129*
The Bears won the toss at the Emirates and chose to bat with Varun Chopra and Neil Carter finding runs difficult, posting just twenty five from the first seven overs before Carter 16 was caught behind by Mustard off Claydon.
Varun Chopra 34 and William Porterfield then added fifty eight for the second wicket and after Chopra had fallen lbw to Collingwood Jim Troughton 50 and Porterfield 74 added one hundred and seven until they fell off consecutive deliveries from Claydon caught in each case by Blackwell at mid off.
Chris Woakes failed to score but a late sixth wicket of forty four between Keith Barker 29* and Rikki Clarke 17* helped the Bears to a final total of 240 from their forty overs.
In reply Phil Mustard and Mike Di Venuto got the home side off to a flyer, posting an opening partnership of one hundred and ten with both men completing half centuries before Keith Barker had Di Venuto caught off a top edge by Stef Piolet for fifty three.
The introduction of Chris Metters, making his List A debut, saw him dismiss Stokes 24 bowled sweeping and Muchall 2 lbw but Mustard continued in dominant form, completing his century from just ninety deliveries and passing his previous career best of 108 and with the experienced Paul Collingwood, took Durham to within sixteen of victory before losing Collingwood for sixteen and then Benkinstein 6,eight runs later.
Mustard finished unbeaten on a superb 129 not out as Durham completed a five wicket victory
