2nd XI t20 Bears win their first match


On a rain impacted day at Olton and West Warwickshire C.C. Warwickshire won their first match of the season in the competition against Somerset


The rain ruined the opening match of the double-header t20 competition against Somerset after Somerset had made a strong start reaching 117-1 after just 11 overs before the rain brought the players from the field and they were unable to get back on before the allotted time for the first match was complete. Sam Mount from the Somerset Academy, made an unbeaten seventy five for Somerset from 35 deliveries while Thornely scored thirty three . Both sides took one point


In the second match thge rain again had an influence, reducing the match to a fourteen overs per side match and after winning the toss Warwickshire made 157-7 with Freddie Coleman 31, Steff Piolet 24* and Ateeq Javid 23 the top scorers. Waller 3-26 and Meschede 2-26 were amongst the wickets

Somerset were set a D/L adjusted target of 155 from their fourteen overs and again Thornely 62 was in form and Meschede 35 took the visitors to within three runs of victory before the innings closed on 152-6 from their fourteen overs
