Warwickshire 2nd XI v Worcestershire 2nd XI, SE Championship


Day 3

Warwickshire declared on their overnight total and soon had Worcestershire 35-3 in their second innings, before some friendly bowling led to them declaring at lunch on 163-4 setting Warwickshire a target of 271 from a possible 62 overs.

At tea Warwickshire were 110-2 with Ian Westwood having made 43 but a rapid forty nine from the first seven overs after the interval got their chase underway, and despite losing Hain 35 and Webb 25, Tom Lewis 116* and Tom Milnes 22* saw them reach their target with over thirty balls to spare, closing on 272-4.

Lewis’ century included fifteen fours and a six as Warwickshire took 20 points to Worcestershire’s 6 points.

Day 2

Gareth Andrew took his overnight score onto 160 on the second day before Worcestershire declared on 350-8 on his dismissal. Richie Lamb ended with 4-65 and Jonathon Webb 2-7.

In reply, Warwickshire slipped to 26-3 before Sam Hain and Webb took the total onto 181 when Webb was out for 98 from 118 balls with eleven fours and a six.

Milnes followed for 22 but Hain, at 92 not out, took Warwickshire to stumps on 243-5, still trailing by 107 runs going into the final day.

Day 1

Warwickshire won the toss and put Worcestershire into bat at Coventry & North Warwickshire CC, where play was delayed for 25 minutes by rain and a further 20 minutes soon after play had got underway.

With the day reduced to 82 overs, Worcestershire batted strongly with Rhodes 72 and Andrew 89* leading the way as they closed the day on 242-3.

For Warwickshire Phagura 1-40 and Lamb 1-37 were the pick of the bowlers.
