Lancashire 2nd XI v Warwickshire 2nd XI, SE Championship

 

Day 3

There was a promising start to the final day when Gordon had Reece 49 caught behind by McKay without addition to the overnight score, before Mark Adair removed both Livingstone 25 and Proctor 3.

Poysden then picked up Brown 49 and Clark 10 and at 143-5 Warwickshire had given themselves a chance of victory.

Adair then bowled Parry 23 and Lilley 15, but Hameed 30* and Bailey 10* batted through without further loss to complete a four wicket victory for the home side.

Day 2

Lancashire were dismissed on the second day for 158 from 48.3 overs with Gordon taking 6-27 and Poysden 3-18 with Karl Brown top scoring on 71 for the home side.

With a first innings lead of 86 Warwickshire were unable to press home the advantage when bowled out in their second innings for just 130 with Tom Lewis top scoring on 48 and Mark Best making 17.

Needing 217 for victory Lancashire closed the day on 65-0 with Reece unbeaten on 49 needing just 152 to win on the final day.

Day 1

After winning the toss and batting against Lancashire at Southport, Warwickshire found themselves in deep trouble on 11-3 in the tenth over with Lewis, Umeed and Zaman all dismissed in single figures before skipper Freddie Coleman 33 and Mark Best 36 fell in consecutive overs.

Aaron Thomason was run out by Gowers for fifteen but a partnership of 89 between Tom Milnes 67 and Peter McKay 43 helped Warwickshire to 228-7 before the last three wickets fell for a further 16 runs to close on 244.

Luke Proctor finished with 5-44 for Lancashire who conceded 43 extras towards the Warwickshire total.

In reply, with 12 overs remaining in the day, Lancashire lost Reece to the first ball of the innings from Milnes caught by Mark Best, and then Recordo Gordon picked up the wicket of Hameed 3 to a Coleman catch as Lancashire closed on 16-2 trailing by 228 runs.
