6 June 1994 - Brian Lara 501 Not Out
Twenty years ago to this day, Brian Charles Lara entered the record books for the second time in three months, by scoring 501 runs not out for Warwickshire against Durham in the County Championship; the record individual innings in First Class Cricket.
Lara, joined the Bears as our overseas player in the 1994 season and broke the record individual innings in Test Cricket just seven weeks earlier with 375 against include in Antigua; a record he would also break almost 10 years later with 400 not out, also against England.
The record 501* against Durham was scored off just 427 balls and included 62 x 4s and 10 x 6s. The historic moment came in the final over of play, when he Lara hit John Morris through the covers for four in an incredible moment at Edgbaston.
