Bears boosted by early arrival of Shoaib Malik

With a little over 24 hours until the first NatWest T20 Blast match at Edgbaston v Yorkshire Vikings, the Birmingham Bears have been boosted by the news that Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik will join up with the squad ahead of schedule and be available for the second home game against Durham Jets.

Malik arrives at Edgbaston ahead of the Bears’ match against the Jets on Friday 6 June and will play seven matches in total, including other home NatWest T20 Blast matches against Northamptonshire Steelbacks (Thursday 19 June) and Lancashire Lightning (Friday 4 June).

Dougie Brown, Director of Cricket for the Birmingham Bears, said: “Having a player of Shoaib’s calibre available for an extra match in the new look NatWest T20 Blast is fantastic for the squad and it’s great that our supporters will be able to see him earlier in this exciting new competition.

“Finals Day is back at Edgbaston again this year and we’re all looking forward to getting underway in the competition tomorrow evening. We’re delighted that Shoaib will be in the squad for our second home game just two weeks later.

Supporters can see tomorrow night’s match against Yorkshire Vikings and the second match against Durham Jets for just £25 for Adults as part of the T20 Blast Double Whammy Deal; a saving of £19 from the gate price.

Additionally, each individual match is priced at £15, until midnight on the preceding day, for Adults (£22 on gate) whilst Juniors are £5 at all times.
