Rapids and Vikings T20 tickets going fast thanks to advance discounts
With four weeks to go until the Birmingham Bears first NatWest T20 Blast game v Yorkshire Vikings, advance ticket sales for the seven home games at Edgbaston have reached club record levels for domestic cricket’s shortest form of the game.
Gareth Roberts, Commercial Director at Warwickshire CCC, said: “We’re keen to give the best value to supporters who book in advance, and those who buy tickets now will save £7 from the match day price on the gate. There’s an even bigger discount of £19 if purchasing a ‘Double Whammy’ ticket for the first two games – against Yorkshire Vikings and Durham Jets - which are both on Friday nights.
“As expected the West Midlands Derby against the Worcestershire Rapids on Friday 11 July has proved the most popular, but there’s been very good sales of our first match against the Yorkshire Vikings, with supporters keen to see Bears take to the field in this new look competition and enjoy a fun-filled Friday night of T20 cricket at Edgbaston.”
Following on from last year, Edgbaston is bringing back the West Midlands Mascot Derby for the Bears’ first match against Yorkshire Vikings, with the club’s own Hugh and Carmen Bear set to be joined by mascots of several local football clubs for a race on the outfield during the interval.
Live music from local bands, face painting and a range of other activities are set to take place around the stadium to make the Friday night match day experience at Edgbaston even more enjoyable. Additionally, supporters will be able to watch England’s World Cup clash with Uruguay on big screens at Edgbaston following the Birmingham Bears’ game against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Thursday 19 July; a match where Pakistan international Shoaib Malik will make his debut for the Bears.
Tickets for the Birmingham Bears home games are priced at £15 in advance and £22 on the gate, whilst the ‘Double Whammy’ deal – which includes entry to the matches against Yorkshire Vikings on 23 May and Durham Jets on 6 June – is £25. Both can be purchased at www.edgbaston.com or by calling the Ticket Hotline on 0844 847 1902.
