Bears release Piolet for Sussex opportunity
Warwickshire have released all-rounder Steffan Piolet from his current contract in order for the 25-year-old to pursue opportunities with his home county, Sussex.
Piolet signed his first professional contract with Warwickshire in October 2008 after impressing during a trial run in the club’s Second XI.
He went on to establish himself in the Bears’ limited overs teams and made 39 List A and 51 t20 appearances during his five years at Edgbaston as well as four First Class matches.
Dougie Brown, Warwickshire’s Director of Cricket, said: “Steff has always given 100% when he’s taken to the field for Warwickshire and he’s very popular with fellow players and our cricket management team.
“Despite being a regular in our limited overs teams, we understand his motivation to play more First Class cricket, so he leaves Edgbaston with our full support and we wish him the very best with Sussex.”
Piolet played 15 Second XI Championship matches for Sussex before joining the Bears in 2008, but returned to Hove on loan for a brief spell at the end of the 2013 season.
He said: “I’d like to thank everyone involved at Warwickshire for a fantastic five years. It’s been an honour to play with some of the best cricketers in the country.
“Looking forward, I’m really excited by the challenge of playing for my home county in Sussex, and I’m very grateful to Warwickshire for allowing me this opportunity to further my career at Hove.”
