Jeets Takes the Headlines at Member's Reception & Awards Night

Warwickshire’s playing and coaching squad invited the Club’s Members to the new look Warwickshire Suite yesterday evening for the annual End of Season Reception and Player of the Year Awards Ceremony.

The Club’s overseas star Jeetan Patel was the headline award winner, and he was presented with the Members’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year honours for his 78 wickets in all competitions this season; 52 wickets came in the LV= County Championship where he also scored 438 runs at an average of 31.28.

Bears’ Director of Cricket Dougie Brown was also quick to praise Jeets as ‘one of the best overseas players in the Club’s history, along with Allan Donald, Brian Lara and Shaun Pollock’.

Laurie Evans took the Grizzly’s Player of the Year Award for his LV= County Championship breakthrough season for the Bears, where he scored 943 runs at an average of 55.47, including three hundreds and a career best score of 178 against Nottinghamshire at Edgbaston.

Twenty-one year-old Freddie Coleman took the Most Improved Second Team Player Award in his first full year within the Bears professional ranks.

The next Members’ event scheduled at Edgbaston is the Christmas Carol service, which takes place in the Banqueting Suite on Wednesday 11th December.
