Warwickshire 2nd XI v Hampshire & Surrey 2nd XI, Friendly
Wickets fell quickly on the third morning, with five tumbling for the addition of just 20 runs before a partnership of 35 for the seventh wicket between Webb and Phagura steadied the innings which eventually closed on 159 in the fifty fifth over with Griffiths 4-34 and Dunne 3-36.
Chasing 153 for victory, Surrey/Hampshire made a strong start reaching 62-1 before Aaron Thomason took three wickets before tea, After the break, Jack Poysden and Brinder Phagura took three wickets apiece to bowl Warwickshire to a 25run victory as the visitors were dismissed for 127 from 29.4 overs.
This completed the Second Eleven programme for 2013 and was their first victory of the season in a friendly match.
Replying to Warwickshire’s 313, Surrey/Hampshire made 320 all out on the second day largely thanks to a ninth wicket partnership of 75 between van der Bergh 37 and Griffiths 67.
For Warwickshire, Shozair Ali 4-56, Jack Poysden 2-75 and Brinder Phagura 2-50 were the main wicket takers.
By the close Warwickshire were 80-1 in their second innings, with Lewis out for 22.
Warwickshire won the toss and batted in this friendly match against the combined Surrey and Hampshire side in the Second Eleven’s final match of the season at Coventry and North Warwicks CC. They reached lunch on 109-3 with Tom Lewis 46 and Clarke 39 from 33 deliveries.
Sam Hain and Jonathan Webb then batted all afternoon with Hain making 48 and Webb going on to make a maiden Second XI century before Warwickshire declared after 98.5 overs on 313-7 with Webb unbeaten on 103.
By the close, the visitors were eight without loss.
