Dates Confirmed for India's Return to Edgbaston
The ECB has announced the dates of England’s two must-see matches against India at Edgbaston in the 2014 summer, with a NatWest t20 International set to take place on Sunday 7th September and a One Day International confirmed for Tuesday 2nd September.
Colin Povey, Chief Executive of Edgbaston, said: “India have a huge following whenever they play at Edgbaston, and I’m sure England will be gunning for revenge for the six run defeat in June’s ICC Champions Trophy Final when they meet again in Birmingham next September.
“Next year promises to be another great summer of cricket at Edgbaston, with the dates of an ODI between England and Sri Lanka and Finals Day of an extended domestic t20 competition set to be announced in the coming weeks.
“Supporters can be the first to receive information on tickets and Warwickshire Membership for all of our 2014 matches at www.Edgbaston.com.”
India’s last major tour of England and Wales came in 2011, with the Third Test Match against England at Edgbaston also being the official opening of the stadium’s new £32 million South Stand.
ECB Chief Executive David Collier said: “We thank the BCCI for their support and also our international venues who between them helped bring a record number of spectators – more than 850,000 - to international cricket over the course of the season when India last toured here in 2011.
“We anticipate significant demand for tickets both for the Investec Test series, and for the One-Day International series which will be the first encounter between these two countries in the 50-Over format since India’s triumph in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy competition at Edgbaston earlier this year.”
