Warwickshire Bears v Nottinghamshire Outlaws, Yorkshire Bank 40
Warwickshire Bears v Nottinghamshire Outlaws YB40 May 23rd 2013
On a gloomy cold evening, the Outlaws won the toss and invited the Bears to bat at Edgbaston with Darren Maddy on his 39th birthday opening with Varun Chopra.
A couple of early breaks for rain didn’t help the Bears settle and after Maddy 5, had driven Jake Ball to Michael Lumb at deep mid-off, Jim Troughton 16, was stumped charging Mullaney’s slower delivery.
Chopra 42 and Clarke 59 added fifty two for the third wicket and with some useful support innings from Ambrose 21 and Piolet 22 Warwickshire closed their reduced thirty overs on 186-7
In reply, set a revised target of 194 from 30 overs, Michael Lumb hammered the Bears’ opening attack, racing to his fifty from just twenty eight deliveries and despite losing Hales for eight, Taylor 39* continued the solid start after Piolet bowled Lumb 57 with his first ball.
Off the field again for rain late in the evening Notts required just twenty one from twenty deliveries and Taylor with Wessels brought them home to a comfortable victory to make it four wins from four matches for the Outlaws whilst the Bears travel to Northampton on Monday looking for their first win in this year’s competition.
