LV= County Champions Warwickshire have secured England Lions Fast Bowler Chris Wright until at least the end of 2016 after the 27 year-old penned a four-year deal at Edgbaston ahead of play this morning against Derbyshire.

Wright, who received his County Cap ahead of play this morning, was a revelation in the Bears’ bowling ranks last season with his 67 First Class wickets helping the Club power towards a seventh County Championship.

Commenting on his new deal, Chris said: “Joining Warwickshire has revitalised my career and I’ve had an amazing time here at Edgbaston with its fantastic facilities and a great coaching team that’s helping the players reach their potential.

“Working day-to-day with Graeme Welch has helped me become a stronger, faster and a smarter bowler and it’s amazing to think how far I’ve come since the beginning of last season.

“I’m thrilled to secure a long-term deal with Warwickshire and will be doing everything possible to help bring more silverware to this great Club and its supporters.”

Dougie Brown, Director of Cricket at Warwickshire CCC, said: “Chris has been an instant success here at Edgbaston, forming a potent new ball attack with Keith Barker last season and winning recognition as one of the leading fast bowlers on the County Circuit.

“His standards in training set a great example to the younger members of the squad and his journey to becoming an England Lions opening bowler in 18 months proves exactly what can be realised with talent, hard work and dedication.

“It’s great to know that we have his future secured at Edgbaston for at least the next four years.”
