Warwickshire Chairman Confirmed as Candidate for ECB Board
Warwickshire CCC Chairman, Norman Gascoigne, has today been confirmed as a candidate in the election of a Director of the England & Wales Cricket Board.
The successful candidate will replace Yorkshire’s Colin Graves as the Test Match Category A Grounds’ representative, and will be announced on 19th April to serve a three-year term, following the vote by the 18 First Class County Chairmen.
Norman commented: “Following three years as Chairman of Warwickshire, which has seen a significant period of redevelopment and restructuring of the Club’s infrastructure and business model, I feel I am well equipped to represent fellow County Clubs at the top table.
“How the ECB’s strategic objective of building a vibrant domestic game develops will be a critical issue for the professional game and understanding the priorities that will suit all Counties will be a priority for me if successful in the election.”
Having been involved in cricket throughout his life, Norman would also bring a substantial level of experience of the recreational game to the position, latterly as a member and Chairman of Lord’s Taverners West Midlands Region Committee and a member of the Warwickshire Cricket Board Management Committee.
Richard Thompson, Chairman of Surrey CCC, is also a candidate in the election.
