Bears Depart for Champions Fixture

The Bears departed Birmingham airport bound for Dubai earlier today ahead of annual season curtain raiser between the LV= County Champions and the MCC.

Having returned from the pre-season training camp in Barbados only 24-hours earlier, the 13-man squad will have a rest day tomorrow before attending the t20 tournament at 7he Sevens Stadium on Friday and coaching local children in the afternoon.

With a full training day scheduled on Saturday 23rd March, Warwickshire begin their four-day match against the MCC at 10.30am on Sunday, which will be played in day/night conditions with a pink ball at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Dougie Brown, Warwickshire’s Director of Cricket, said: “The full squad had great preparation for the new season, with fantastic facilities and everyone taking part in one of the matches.

"We were particularly impressed with how the younger players faired in their first tour with the senior squad, hence why we’ve given a few the opportunity to join the eight-day tour of the Emirates and stake their claim for a place in our first LV= County Championship squad against Derbyshire at Edgbaston on 10th April.”

Warwickshire’s Champions match against the MCC will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra. Simply click the link from 10.30am each day between Sunday and Wednesday to listen live: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/21850392
