Members of Warwickshire's LV County Championship-winning squad were honoured by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham as he hosted a Civic Reception at his Parlour at Birmingham City Council House.

The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr John Lines, welcomed Club Captain Jim Troughton, Director of Cricket Ashley Giles and other members of the playing and coaching team to celebrate Club’s seventh LV County Championship success and first since 2004.

Cllr John Lines, Lord Mayor of Birmingham, said: "Warwickshire County Cricket Club's exploits have played a major part in what has been an unforgettable summer of sport locally and nationally.

“The Bears have made themselves the team to beat and have been great ambassadors for Birmingham's sporting reputation."

Jim Troughton, Club Captain, said: “We’ve received a fantastic response from people across Birmingham and the wider county since winning the LV County Championship, which shows just how much they value our success.

“We were very honoured to celebrate the team’s achievement at the Birmingham City Council House and I thank the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and Lady Mayoress for this opportunity.”
