Congratulations to the Warwickshire Women’s team who have won the first of their playoff matches to gain promotion to Division 1 of the County Championship.

Having already topped the group in Division 2, the Bears had to play runners-up Worcestershire in a playoff to decide who would play the losers of the playoff between the bottom two in Division 1 (Yorkshire v Somerset), which will ultimately decide who plays in the top flight next season

Warwickshire bowled first and were set a total of 164 for victory.

Despite losing two quick wickets, England Academy player, Helen Shipman, hit a season’s best of 89 to see the Bears home to the next play off match.

Warwickshire will now play Somerset at Kibworth CC on September 2nd for a place in Division 1.
